Terry Fruth has practiced in business litigation for over 30 years. He has extensive trial experience in a wide range of business disputes, including shareholder, health care, securities, and employment matters.
He has tried and settled many complex business disputes, often involving multiple parties with interlocking business relationships. What sets Terry apart from many other business litigators is his substantive business knowledge. In addition to significant trial experience, Terry is well-versed in business finance. Clients hire Terry to advise them and direct an overall legal strategy that fits with their business needs. A large part of his practice comes from fellow lawyers, who refer their clients to Terry for his business litigation expertise or when a conflict of interest arises.
Chambers & Partners Legal Publishers has recognized Terry as one of the Leading Business Litigators in Minnesota. He has been listed in Best Lawyers of America since its inception in 1986. Based on voting by fellow lawyers, Minnesota Law and Politics magazine has listed Terry as one of its Top 40 Business Litigators in Minnesota.
Terry has been a frequent lecturer at seminars, including ones addressing shareholder disputes, financial and accounting fraud, and other claims involving professionals. He has published many articles and served as a Contributing Editor to The Developing Labor Lawyer, published by the Bureau of National Affairs. He is a member of state and local bar associations, as well as the Minnesota Chapter of the Federal Bar Association. He is admitted to state and federal courts in Minnesota and other jurisdictions, and to the United States Supreme Court.
Terry's undergraduate degree is from St. John's University. He obtained his J.D. from the University of Minnesota and completed courses in the L.L.M. advanced degree program at New York University.
